Từ Văn Tea – Our roots
Established in 2011, Từ Văn Joint Stock Company was founded by a master artisan with a deep passion for local community development and ancient Shan tuyet tea conservation. Our guiding vision is to produce and distribute specialty organic teas, protect and regenerate natural tea ecosystems, promote customer well-being, and empower local tea farmers through sustainable income generation.
Our Unique Approach to Tea
To bring this vision to life, Từ Văn invested in manufacturing facilities at the Hồ Thầu Tea Cooperative, located on Chiêu Lầu Thi Mountain (Hồ Thầu, Hoàng Su Phì, Hà Giang (old) / now Tuyen Quang Province). Our factory covers an area of 500 m², complemented by a 1,500 m² drying and withering area. Furthermore, we own over 12 hectares of ancient Shan Tuyết tea trees and hold exclusive purchasing rights for an additional 250 hectares of ancient Shan tea across the region. All of these areas have been granted international Production Unit Codes.
About Us
For the 12-plus hectares managed by the Hồ Thầu Tea Cooperative, we have allowed the ecosystem to thrive naturally since 2019. Our natural farming practices strictly exclude fertilization, pruning, and weeding to foster organic soil accumulation, limiting harvests to just one or two seasons a year (Spring and Autumn). In 2020, this raw material region officially received an Production Unit Code.
Nestled in a sub-temperate climate at elevations between 1,500 and 2,400 meters above sea level—the highest latitude region in Vietnam—Hà Giang teas boast a more pronounced, vibrant aroma than other regions, distinguished by delicate orchid notes. Additionally, Chiêu Lầu Thi Mountain features soil weathered from bedrock, rich in minerals that impart a deep, long-lasting body capable of enduring multiple steepings. Receiving the gentle morning sunlight from its eastern exposure, Hà Giang tea develops a smoother, sweeter profile compared to teas from western provinces such as Điện Biên and Lai Châu.
Our tea harvesters belong to the local Dao, H’Mong, and Nùng ethnic communities. Every year, they receive training in selective harvesting techniques and occupational safety for climbing ancient trees. Harvesting occurs exclusively on dry, sunny days between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM. At the end of each shift, fresh leaves are immediately transported to the facility, preserving maximum natural active compounds to craft the finest teas.
